Title: This is how we roll!
Hi all! It;s been awhile since I have updated the blog. But to make up for that, I am going to show you why. We have been busy with things like the gym (because its air conditioned), pools and the beach. Yep, the Florida lifestyle looks good on me! (although it is hotter than Hades here and I can not wear anything but a ponytail for the frizz factor of my hair).
Here's some recent pictures from the ocean, where we found this:

And just some action shots at the beach:

At our pool:

As you can see we are very busy girls ;)
Also, just a reminder that The Bowtique will be closed from about August 5th for 2 weeks or so as we go away on a nice little family vacation. I hope to return with some newer items for Back to School (ack- I can hardly believe I am even saying that).

Title: If you don't have a 4 year old, you need to go out and get one!
There is nothing better than the vision of 4 year old art work. I am going to have a wall of my girlies artwork framed. Here is a recent rendition of Bryn's family portrait. She did a great job and totally got her Dad's hair right too!

I will try to update the blog soon. I have been trying to find a good balance between bows and the family right now. I have also doing a lot of "behind the scenes" web site maintenaince, which should be reflected soon...or at least I hope so!

Title: Did I mention I found this on my driveway?
Yeah, it's a small dragon! While coming home a couple days ago, I found him sunning himself on our driveway. He measured well over a foot and I learned that he does not like to have his picture taken. (and the fact that he's surprisingly fast).
He seems to have left, but I am very careful opening the garage door nowadays!

Title: Happy Mother's Day After!
A day late and a buck short...but better late than never!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's day! I was once again reminded of how very blessed I am. I managed to catch a bit of extra sleep, I didn't cook all day and I was even spoiled with a few treats. But I have to admit, my favorite gifts are those from the heart. Especially those from the heart of a certain 4 year old. She honored her ol' Mom with a portrait and a little FAQ about me. I was so tickled pink by her efforts, that I just had to share it here.
(Note: It's the being 10 years old that made me giggle)

Title: Peacocks.
Yes, I said peacocks. This is what greeted me as I was driving home the other day. Three, oblivious peacocks in search of something. They obviously had no concerns that I was in a rush to get home as they ever so slowly walked in front of my car all peacock-like.
They made their way to my neighbors house and appeared to peak into her front window. Then, they made their way past me as I continued to take pictures with my camera. They were remarkably calm as they once again crossed the street to a nearby pond. I had not heard of any recent peacock attacks, so i figured I was relatively safe.
It was an exciting 10 minutes in the Bowtique neighborhood.

Title: I love hearts, rainbows and unicorns.
This is what my 4 year old told me the other day. Ironically, I think it would make a perfect introduction to her bio one day. It sums up all that is Bryn beautifully. She is a girly girl with a strong sense of her own fashion. The latest trend at the Bowtique house is to wear ankle socks stretched up to her knees. No matter what the outfit- shorts, capris, bathingsuits.... My husband suggested that maybe she would be more comfortable with knee socks, but Bryn was adamently against that idea. So we are currently suffering through the "wearing-our-ankle-socks-stretched-up-to-our-knees" phase. Of course, this phase had to happen as we are entering some hotter weather down here too. (just try to talk a 4 year old out of wearing socks with flip flops- OY!)
So, in honor of Bryn, a recent picture of my little loves. (and I know some of you have been asking for recent pictures- so we'll honor Ava very soon.)

Title: Yes! We are back!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Thanks for the emails! We are back and accepting orders. I am working hard to bring you our new summer additions. I hope to have some new designs added by the beginning of May! You may also notice someother changes around here. I will slowly be changing things around. Clearancing out some older stock, reorganizing the current stock, and making room for new additions. If you can not find an item, just email me for a little one on one help ;) I am now at the point that I wish I had a webmaster, as it takes me about twelve times longer to do any sort of coding work to the website. Arg. I am doing my best to keep this site easy to navigate. So any suggestions are appreciated.
Jill :)

Title: Happiest New Year!!
Happiest New Year All!! This year for my resolution, I decided not to make any resolutions. Why? Every year I make sweeping resolutions- eat better, get in better shape, blah, blah, blah and inevidably they are blown by January 2nd...which would prove true again this year a I just scarfed down a chocolate cookie for breakfast! So to save myself from my own disappointment, I decided to take baby steps. This year I will organize my zillion photos, get my recipes in order and try not to have chocolate cookies for breakfast. Or at least wait until morning snack!

Title: Santa's on a diet this year...
While engaged in yet another totally random and completely hilarious convesation with Bryn, we broached the topic of baking goods for Santa's impending visit. ME: "We could bake some cookies for Santa and give him some milk too". B: "Oh no, cookies are not a healthy choice, let's leave him carrots".
Well crap. I was kind of counting on the fact, that I can actually bake up a storm and maybe use that to my advatange in squeezing a few more gifts out of Santa. I don't think carrots are going to help our chances much. In fact, if I were travelling the globe with flying reindeer all night, I'd be asking for the sugar to keep me awake! Sugar and chocolate make it all better.
And to keep it interesting, some recent ones of the girlies enjoying the weather!!

Title: The world of Bryn..
My nearly 4 year old is a one girl variety entertainment show! She is so random, you just never know what she's going to do or say. Of course, this is why we love her so...Oh sweet Bryn and her Brynisms. A couple recent conversations go a little something like this-
Upon picking Bryn up from her new preschool (of Christian influence) Bryn announces- "Mom! I have the love of Cheesies on my heart!" Me: "Oh? Me too B...I love Cheetos!" Bryn: "No Mom, you know...CHEESIES...he has a beard??" And all the time I was thinking she has the same love of Cheetos as her Mom does...at least she gets THAT honestly!
Then the other night we were eating some potato chips. When I casually mention, "You know Bryn, chips are not very healthy. They don't really help you grow up strong and healthy" To which Bryn replies without missing a beat- "Oh no! They make you short?!"
I have managed to write down a few of our conversations which I plan to use as backmail one day when she's bigger...or least embarass her in front of her cool college friends! Not only is the girl pretty quick- she also has inherited her father's artistic ability. Bryn is a wiz on the Etch-A-Sketch. Just see below! Her rendition of an Etch-a-Sketch kitty is much better than I could ever do!! In fact, it may become my new screen saver! And I think she may have a future as an Etch A Sketch artist!
Yep. Life with Bryn is quite an adventure. You just never know what she's going to do or say. How lucky that I was chosen to be her Mom!

Title: My Halloweenies
I am coming in a little late, but I had to share a few pictures of my Halloweenies. Ava (19 months) caught on very quickly to the whole "trick or treat" thing. She has always been a girl motivated by food (she must get that from her Mom) ;) I don;t think I have ever seen her move so fast as she ran to each house calling for her "teats".

I think Bryn's official title was "Butterfly Fairy Princess". In any case, she was the lovliest one I have ever seen. B had so much fun (and sugar) from her party at school, that she actually tuckered out before the Trick or Treating began. Aww...sweet sugar crash.

Title: Pumpkin Patch and the pool!
We enjoyed the pumpkin patch this past weekend! It was a blast- and the girls each chose their very own pumpkin. It was funny because Miss Ava was absolutely hellbent on having that particular pumpkin in the picture. I would do my best to lure her away to another group of pumpkins in hopes of her finding a neat odd shaped one, but the dang girl kept going back to the same one. So be it. She is a girl who knows what she wants! (bestill my heart)

I didn't get many pictures of Bryn, as she pretty much ran, skipped, twirled and jumped up and down the rows of pumpkins...but I did manage to snap her doing the hay maze "her way".

It seems so strange to me that we were picking pumpkins this weekend and just a few days ago we were lounging by a pool (like it was summertime). It's definately going to take me awhile to get used to the warmer climate. I am told that the Holidays will be here soon, but I refuse to believe it as I am still wearing short sleeved shirts and all! I highly recommend Florida in the Fall. ;)

Title: Friday Funnies.
Okay, I have to share my new favorite site...its www.icanhascheezburger.com It's basically photos of pets (mostly cats) that people send in with silly captions to make the pictures funny! I have shamelessly spent many hours on this site laughing with tears rolling down my face! So, I am going to start sharing some of my favorite pictures here. I realize this my not be everyone's cup of tea, but I seem to be just senseless enough that I find it hilarious! (again, let's blame that one on my attempts to phase out sleep as I am up until the weee hours each night with "the bows") Yes, the crazy rantings of a bow entreprenuer! Anyway, I digress- here's a couple of my recent favs!! Enjoy! Happy Weekend All!

Title: Growing Up.
Yep. My little girl has gone off to preschool. I am excited her. Really. I am. She's a confident and friendly person who enjoys learning and making friends. Bryn is the perfect candidate for school. She has been awaiting this day with such enthusiasm, it leaves me feeling a little left out. I think it's because now she will have her own little life outside her world here at home. A life where I can not be there to hug her if someone pushes her on the playground, or reassure her when she has to face a bit of failure on her own. I hope we give her the tools she needs to deal with all the worries I have with as much ease as possible. I want her to be prepared, but not scared. I want her to believe in the good in people, but also to be ready when they are not. I want her to keep her wide eyed optimism as long as possible. And despite the worries, I truly am very excited for her. Bryn is such a force of nature, that I expect great things from her as she begins to take her place in this bigger world of hers. Happy First day of School B!
